How to Eat a Pomegranate Nutrition

how to work with what has become one of the most sought after fruits that is the pomegranate and in this video I’ll be sharing with you not just how to work with it in terms of how to prepare it to eat it but also about its nutrition and health benefits and tips about its use along the way we know today that it has been a price to fruit for thousands of years it was first used in and around the areas of the Middle East and today as we know the pomegranate is cultivated in many areas around the world including various parts of the US as well as South America now for anybody who doesn’t live in an area where it is readily cultivated we have the luxury today of having this fruit imported to was pretty much year round although most of us will find that it is most prevalent around the time of the fall as well as the winter today of course we have different studies that have associated the powerful nutritional composition of the pomegranate with many powerful health benefits for healing and prevention for example various in people in in vitro studies have associated with having strong anti carcinogenic activity not only that but also high anti oxidant activity which usually works hand in hand so while we have all these wonderful studies today we have to always be a discerning conscious consumer and remember that it’s as wonderful as it is that we are studying and testing various whole foods today we kind of have to always look into what might be the old here your motive and today we know that many pomegranate based processed foods as well as supplements have surfaced on the market so naturally they will be the ones that will benefit the most from positively sounding studies so not to negate its amazing nutritional power for sure there’s lots to it by as I’m going to reiterate again at the end of this video every fruit and.

As you can see the pomegranate and the one I have here specifically is on the large size they can be anywhere from a small handful to a large handful the outer skin is quite waxy and perhaps even some described as leathery and tough although it’s not very thick so as soon as you cut through it you’ll notice that it’s actually in fact quite thin and the pomegranate how’s this flower part from of course the fruit originates from the flower and has hung from the tree there are shrub-like trees and it would hang down like this the actual fruit of the pomegranate that is eaten is found within this peel what we call those specific parts RC eros, of course, there’s the juicy fruit part as well as the actual seat inside of them and if you’ve never tasted one they are a slightly on the tart or sour side by side also and equally can be very sweet and pleasant so it all depends on how fresher pomegranate is how right pure pomegranate is so usually it’s a very pleasant experience for most people.

In terms of practical uses how could use the pomegranate first and foremost the easiest just eat it fresh as it so once you remove the skin once you take it apart simply eat enjoy it as is another great idea for your meals is to add this to various salads it minimizes the need or completely eliminates the need for any salad dressing and you can decorate your solids with some pomegranate and they are absolutely delicious now some people do like to perhaps bake with it cook with a different meals that could be okay but it all depends on how have Lee you’re going to heat process your pomegranate it’s not a good idea really to add any heat to it because remember if we want to maintain the nutritional integrity of that vitamin C. and many of the other heat sensitive nutrients then we really must make sure that it is eaten or consumed in its raw whole food form otherwise we’re deactivating and bird basically denaturing and losing a lot of the nutritional and health and healing value that it can have for us now another very popular way to consume the pomegranate is in juice form some people enjoyed using their own pomegranate and that’s generally speaking quite fine although again nothing will beat at the end of the day eating the whole food by home juicing can be very beneficial we know it’s extremely concentrated full of various nutrients it like we talked about the fight nutrients the vitamins the minerals and can provide a quick boost to our system without all the fiber however in recent years we know that many juices commercially pasteurized juices have also entered the market and while many people are flocking to these I personally don’t recommend them because they’re sitting in plastic bottles they’ve been pasteurized whether to flash pasteurized or otherwise and they’re pricey so you have to kind of weigh your pros and cons and see if that’s really the way you want to go as well don’t forget every time we juice especially approved its sugar content goes up significantly and we’re missing out on the fiber that is going to counterbalance sort of how those sugars get digested in use in our body so this is why.

You can store them directly on your kitchen countertops but again just be mindful not to store them I would say for more than a week that is usually sort of the prime some people choose to store their pomegranates in the refrigerator that is fine as well. When you are ready to eat it the first place to start is really by washing it thoroughly but I’d like to point your attention to one other step here before you wash it and that is most pomegranates come with a sticker most of us don’t remove the stickers we perhaps don’t think anything of it but you can help mother nature a lot and really our environment by actually removing the stickers because I’m hoping that most of us will be inclined to compost any plant material within our home rather than throw them into our typical trash and then have them sit in landfills in plastic bags once you start cutting into a pomegranate there’s a very high chance that some of the Jews of the pomegranate and just the way their roles are it’s their nature we’ll spray or splatter so be mindful of what you’re wearing it’s not a good idea to ever work with pomegranate with any kind of like clothing either have dark clothing on or even better perhaps in a print and also just be mindful where you’re going to be doing your preparation.

If you look on the internet you will find that there’s numerous ways at least a handful of different ways that you can work with the pomegranate anything from using a water bowl too even tapping on it with different utensils etcetera while all of those can be great and can work for different people my personal favorite is as I’ll be showing you in just a moment it’s very straightforward and again a lot of people have this idea and they continue to sort of perpetrated to others that it’s a pain or that it’s tedious or that it’s too much of a hassle to open up a pomegranate and so they don’t like buying them often or eating them off to make such a I think it’s all a matter of perspective and definitely the juicy delicious and super healthy and nutritious treat that we have inside in my opinion is well worth it so the first place that I will be starting is to cut off just a thin layer off of the top of the pomegranate so notice where the flowery parties so just trying to expose the inside after this point all I’m going to do is score the pomegranate along the top make sure that of course you’re working with the good fairly sharp knife and be mindful of your fingers and where your hands are at all times make sure you also have a good grip on the pomegranate that it doesn’t slip so I would just twisted around in score all around going down to the bottom you don’t have to go very deep just a few millimeters will do I’m going to now do it again perpendicular to the other line so now I’m going around again and simply turning it around and scoring not very deep the deeper you go the more of the eros you’re going to cut into and expose the juice and so right away you can start to see that some of the juices are seeping out at this point all I need to do is basically apply pressure on opposing forces with my hands I can pick any two sites and basically I want to crack open the pomegranate and with a little bit of pressure you notice that I get one of the quarter.

Salt and this is what our pomegranate would look like in sight so if this is again your first time seeing it you will notice that there’s these very bright deep red arrows as they’re called and around them in different places there’s this very thin membrane this sort of wall and it’s kind of a creamy yellow colored so there’s my one quarter I’m just going to set it to the side and then crack again and try to peel apart another quarter and some of the seats will naturally start falling into your bowl so you’re doing this over your bowl and again I’m going to do that to my next side and finally the last piece at this point I don’t do anything special I simply open it up as much as I need to and basically gently pull out the seeds I’m sort of doing a brushing motion with my thumb there’s really nothing special to this technique you’re basically just removing any of the white membrane is walls set those aside to slough off the seats the eros here into your bowl and they start to come out some of them are really easy they fall right out some you have to play a little bit of pressure but generally speaking it goes quite fast so the very first time to do it it might seem like it’s going to take forever but trust me I’ve time myself it really does take just a few minutes I can do this usually in about five minutes to get a pomegranate fully D.

seed now if you find that a big chunk of the white fruit part here comes into your bowl simply remove it to the side or into your compost another thing about these white pieces is not to necessarily you know be obsessive about removing every single one it’s not just the pomegranate fruit itself that has so many of the valuable benefits and highly nutritional preventative healing properties it is the entire fruit including this white sheet including the outer layer of the skin so I’m going to continue with the other pieces so that’s really all it takes on average is about five minutes to take apart a pomegranate no of course. It’s not the same as a few seconds to perhaps peel an orange but the idea is that it’s still not a big deal and in our busy busy world were always racing in chasing time and such I think it’s actually a nice activity to step back be one with your food get into a meditative state and actually enjoy the process of connecting with your food so our final product is these beautiful red Cyril’s they can be enjoyed as I mentioned to you just as is or you can sprinkle them into any solid or favorites or on top of your favorite dishes but again hopefully we are keeping them in the raw whole fresh form so based on the method that I’ve shared with you see how it works for you at least several times because remember it takes at least a few times to get into the habit of something and definitely look into other possible methods because as I mentioned to there’s a few out there and see perhaps of what you will resonate with the most when you’re ready to eat your pomegranate especially if it’s your first time many people are a little bit surprised by the seats that are inside and say perhaps the irritate their teeth or they don’t like chewing it except but in fact it’s very very important to do so make sure that when you are eating your pomegranate you chew would really really well because what we most often forget is as I mentioned to it’s not just the fruit itself but all of its parts that have such valuable properties for us so the better you chew those seats that are actually found within the eros the more you can expose their high nutritional value for further information I invite you to visit involving wellness dot com one of my sites where I’ve done a full write up about the pomegranate .
